Agastache or anise hyssop has a mint like aroma with a hint of citrus and licorise. Its fresh as well as dried leaves are used as a food seasoning and also for making tea. How to Plant Agastache Tutti-Frutti
The perennial is easy-to-care and provides late-season color. They add lovely texture to any garden with its fuchsia flowers on airy spikes. It’s aromatic, soothing and licorice scented foliage is favourite of native butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. Tutti-frutti Hyssop falls under the category of open herbaceous annual bedding plant that has an upright spreading habit of growth. Its relatively fine texture, fragrance and late-season color sets it apart from other herb plants with less refined foliage.
Although the plant has multitudes of qualities but it requires relatively less maintenance. It’s an annual bedding plant; early summer is a good time to clean it up so it is ready to resume active growth during the season. Plant Characteristics
The first and the best thing is that the plant has no significant negative characteristics. Typically it grows to be about three feet tall and sometimes (if maturity extends) to four feet tall, with the spread or thickness of 24 inches. We do call it an annual but actually it’s not, you can expect the plant to behave like an annual if you left it outside during the winter. You need to replace it the following year.
What is most important for this annual bedding plant is full sunlight. It grows best in dry to average moisture levels only in a well-drained landscape setting. If there is standing water it will probably die. Agastache Tutti-Frutti is known as desert plant as it shows great drought tolerance and thus it become an ideal selection for xeriscape application (landscaping that eliminates or reduces the need for supplement water) or low-water garden. The herb plant is not particular to a soil type, but has some preference for alkaline soils, and can handle environmental salt. It has also shown a lot of tolerance for urban pollution.
